Stas Kurochkin

Stas_teachingYoung, enthusiastic, talented, multiple medal winner and a judge too.

We are excited to have Stas Kurochkin again teaching in Australia. He is an accomplished competitor (multiple gold medals at World Championships), trainer and teacher. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.

With his two border collies Zippy and Aki:

  • Multiple podium winner of Russian and international events.
  • 4 times Russian National Champion.
  • Two gold medals in Team Agility Large course and Team Agility Overall for Team Russia at FCI AWC 2016 in Zaragoza.
  • 9 medals at IFCS WAC 2016 in Netherlands.
  • 5 gold and 4 silver medals at IFCS WAC 2017 in Spain with his two border collies.
  • Qualified in Individual Large to FCI AWC 2017.
  • First place Large Teams at FCI Agility World Championships 2018
  • 2nd place Agility (Large) and 7th place in the Finals (Large) at European Open 2019.
  • Gold Medallist FCI Agility World Championships 2019 Large Individual Class

General Information

  • Session times as listed with workshop information.
  • The organisers and/or instructor may nominate which dogs will work the session or exercise.
  • Handlers working a dog may arrange for workshop co-participants to video sessions when they are working their dog (for their personal use only) but may not video other dogs or Stas lecturing. It is not appropriate for multiple dogs to be recorded on the same video recorder. Please note you may be asked to leave if you do not comply with this request.
  • Participants should note that Stas has minimal English.  We will have a translator for all sessions.

Stas_teachingVenue:
SA – to be hosted by Turbo Tails Agility at North Torrens Rugby Club, 80 Churchill Road North, Dry Creek.
Qld – Tivoli Sporting Complex, 69 Church Street, Tivoli Qld  4305. This venue is fully fenced. Under NO circumstances are dogs allowed on baseball diamonds. Please follow organiser instructions with regards pegging on the field.

Both are grassed fields.  Venue & times are subject to change depending on factors like weather etc.

Camping/Accommodation: Is not available at the Workshop Venues.
Food/Drinks: Water, tea and coffee available. All else, including lunches, BYO

Handlers with Dogs

  • Handlers with Dogs will be limited.
  • Whilst order of receipt of nominations will be taken into account, working places will not necessarily be allocated on a first come-first served basis.
  • Those requesting Handler with Dog positions will need to submit payment in full for an Auditing spot. Once a request for Handler with Dog spot is accepted, balance of payment will be required within 48 hours.
  • Qld – Payments can be made via direct deposit (preferred) or Paypal.  SA – Payments can only be made via direct deposit.
  • Please note that as these will be very small groups, it will be one dog per handler per session and a dog may only participate in one group per day.

Auditors

  • For the benefit of those attending, the number of Auditors may be limited.
  • In order to secure your place, payment in full will be required within 48 hours of your registration being accepted.
  • Qld – Payments can be made via direct deposit (preferred) or Paypal.  SA – Payments can only be made via direct deposit.

Dogs at the Workshops

  • Please note that dogs may not, at any time, be left tied up. Dogs may be on-lead with their handler, or will be required (preferably) to be crated (or penned/suitably confined), when they are not working.
  • Unless you have received specific permission to do so, additional dog(s) that have not been registered to work the sessions, may not be brought to the workshops.
  • In the interests of all present, dogs that continually bark will need to be removed from the premises.
  • These requirements will be enforced.

  • Topic Details: Choose one, two or three days of sequencing, building and testing skills and extending yourself and your dog.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: Dogs must be obstacle proficient, competing in ANKC and/or ADAA competitions. They must be competing at Open and/or Masters level.
  • Working spots: Maximum of 6

Intermediate/Excellent Group 1 – Friday 6 November 2020 (2.30 pm to 6.00 pm)
Intermediate/Excellent Group 2 – Monday 9 November 2020 (6.30 pm to 10.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: Choose one or two days running shorter sequences and building skills.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: Dogs must be obstacle proficient, competing in ANKC and/or ADAA competitions. It is likely they will have achieved their first title
  • Working spots: Maximum of 6

Beginner Dogs – Saturday 7 November 2020 (2.30 pm to 6.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: This will be a session to create a great starting point for youngsters
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: For puppies and young dogs.
  • Working spots: Maximum of 8

Young Dogs Skills – Sunday 8 November 2020 (6.30 pm to 10.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: This will be a session of foundations and fundamental skills for young dogs and expand into areas you might not yet have ventured.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: For young dogs just starting (14+ months old).
  • Working spots: Maximum of 8

Contacts – Monday 9 November 2020 (2.30 pm to 6.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: This will be a session for Stas to work with you and your dog on Contact equipment performance.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: For dogs ready to start, or already working on, contact equipment.
  • Working spots: Maximum of 6Stas

Pre-Trialling Dogs – Session 1 Friday Afternoon (1.30-5.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: This will be a session to create a great starting point for youngsters.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: For puppies and non-trialling dogs.
  • Working spots: Maximum of 6 per session

Novice/Ready to Trial – Session 2 Friday Evening (5.30-9.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: Running shorter sequences and building skills.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: Dogs must be obstacle proficient, competing in ANKC and/or ADAA competitions or about to start competing. They must be competing at Novice or starting to.  This would be ideal for dogs/handlers requiring a confidence boost in a new environment with new people.
  • Working spots: Maximum of 6

Novice/Excellent Trialling – Session 3 Saturday Afternoon (1.30-5.00 pm)

  • Topic Details: Running shorter sequences and building skills.
  • Prerequisite for Handlers with Dogs: Dogs must be obstacle proficient, competing in ANKC and/or ADAA competitions at Novice or Excellent/Starters or Intermediate level.
  • Working spots: Maximum of 6
