Leslie McDevitt’s versatile Control Unleashed (R) programme is designed to teach dogs and puppies how to relax, focus, and work off leash reliably in stimulating and stressful situations. Instead of using up their energy by getting distracted, excited, or worried about the things going on around them, dogs and puppies learn how to use their energy for focusing on you and the task at hand.
Rather than using traditional attention and control techniques that often fail in highly charged performance situations, Control Unleashed (R) uses a creative and sensible series of training games that can be customised to the needs of each particular dog. The Control Unleahsed (R) programme also stresses the important of balancing attention and control work with letting your dog “be a dog”.
This 4-disc DVD set is intended to be used as a companion to the training information and instructions contained in the book, Control Unleashed: Creating a Focused and Confident Dog. It contains portions of a two-day foundation seminar where Leslie McDevittt works with dogs training in one or more dog sports that are
- uncomfortable or unable to work off lead around other dogs
- easily distracted and have difficulty concentrating
- reactive and easily aroused
- stressed and shut down
- unable to control their impulses when excited
The DVD includes demonstrations for teaching the Look at That! game, mat work, reorienting points, the Whiplash Turn game, Leave It, box work, and more. Learn about reading dogs, building focus, changing attitudes, customizing the Control Unleahsed (R) approach for different dogs, and dealing with real life situations.

About the Author
Leslie McDevitt, MLA, CBFCA, CPDT is a Certificate Dog Behaviour Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. In 1998, Leslie rescued Gordie, an American Pit Bull/GSD cross that had been badly abused, and in trying desperately to help him through his crushing anxieties and fears, met her inspiration and mentor, world-renowned veterinary behaviourist Dr Karen Overall. Through Gordie, Leslie found her calling and devoted herself completely to beoming a dog trainer, and later, a behaviour consultant. Leslie was volunteering at urban shelters and studying behaviour and clicker training when she caught the dog sports bug and started agility and flyball training with her terrier mix Maggie. Her work with anxious, reactive, impulsive, and aggressive dogs gave her a unique perspective when she became a student of dog sports training.
